Template Instructions
Let's check the template instructions for filling in the questions/ answers in the third tab of your file.
The provided spreadsheet can be used to prepare and import questions into the Learnworlds school (in a Questionbank or an Assessment learning unit).
The import functionality allows you to seamlessly import questions of the following types:
- Multiple Choice (TMC)
- Multiple Choice with Multiple Answers (TMCMA)
- True/False (TTF)
- Dropdown (TD)
- Short Text (TST)
- Text Assignment (TP)
- File Assignment (TFU)
Below, we break down each column in the import file and explain what should be included.
1. Group Column
This column is used to assign a group name to each question. Grouping helps organize questions efficiently during the import process. Every question must belong to a group, and the file must contain at least one group. You can find an example in the second tab of the import template.
2. Type Column
Specify the question type using one of the abbreviations listed above. Ensure accuracy, as this determines how the question functions within the system.
3. Question Column
Enter the question text in this column. There is no character limit imposed by the platform; however, spreadsheet software like Excel may have limitations on text length.
4. CorAns (Correct Answers) Column
This column is used to define the correct answer(s) based on the question type. Follow these guidelines:
- Multiple Choice (TMC): Enter the number corresponding to the correct answer, based on the order in the "Answers" columns.
- Multiple Choice with Multiple Answers (TMCMA): List the correct answer numbers, separated by commas.
- True/False (TTF): Use 1 for True and 2 for False (order does not matter).
- Dropdown (TD): Enter exactly one correct answer.
- Short Text (TST): Leave this column blank; correct answers should be entered in the "Answers" columns.
- Text Assignment (TP) & File Assignment (TFU): Leave this column blank, as these question types require manual grading by an instructor/admin.
5. Answers 1-10 Columns
Enter answer choices in separate columns. Each answer should be placed in its own column—do not combine multiple answers into one cell. The platform supports up to 10 answer choices per question.
6. CorrectExplanation Column (Optional)
Provide an explanation that will be displayed as feedback when a user selects the correct answer.
7. IncorrectExplanation Column (Optional)
Provide an explanation for incorrect answers. This feedback helps users understand their mistakes.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure a smooth import process and properly formatted questions within your system.
- Only assessment-type questions can be imported through an XLS or XLSX file. The questions supported are Multiple Choice, Multiple Answers, True / False, Dropdown, and Short Text.
- You can also import questions from a Question Bank or from other assessments.
