This guide will walk you through how to set up the AI Reviewed Text Assignment and configure an AI-powered assessment.
Why Use AI to Grade Open-Text Assignments?
The AI Reviewed Text Assignment is a type of question, available under the AI Enhanced Questions section when adding questions to an exam. It helps you:
- Save time by removing the need for manual review.
- Provide fast, consistent feedback across all learners.

- Enhance learning outcomes with targeted, personalized feedback.
Setting up an AI-Reviewed Text Assignment Question
To utilize AI to grade open-text responses:
- Create your exam. C
- Click the "+" (Add Question) button.
- Choose the AI Enhanced Questions.
- Click AI Reviewed Text Assignment.
- Enter your open-ended question in the text field.
- Adjust formatting and placeholder text if needed.
Configure Settings
Click on Edit question to see three main configuration tabs on the right:
AI Review Text Assignment (General Settings)
- Set the question to Required or Optional.
- Hide or show to the user.
- Set the Minimum and Maximum characters.
- Adjust the Textarea width and height.
Score
1. Set the Points for the question.
2. Fill in the AI scoring criteria.
While setting up the Score section of the AI Reviewed Text Assignment, you can define the focus of the scoring criteria manually and select from the following options to guide the AI's evaluation:

- Rubric – Feedback follows a rubric-style structure, tied to evaluation criteria.
Feedback Length
Control how much detail is included in the AI’s feedback:
- Concise – A short, to-the-point comment.
- Normal – A moderate-length response.
- Extensive – In-depth feedback with detailed explanation.
Strictness of the Feedback
Set the tone of critique:
- Supportive – Gentle and encouraging feedback.
- Balanced – Neutral tone with both praise and critique.
- Rigorous – More demanding and critical evaluation style.
Tone of Voice
Customize how the feedback “feels” to the learner. Choose from a wide range of tones:

You can also activate the AI Feedback Assistant, allowing learners to ask follow-up questions about their feedback and set the number of times they can interact with it.
Once you configure everything, click Save to add the AI-Reviewed Text Assignment to your exam.
